Inspiring Northern Light: Tromsø - Harstad

Discover the Arctic winter and Northern Lights aboard T/S Saeftinghe.

From 13 to 20 February 2027, we will explore the spectacular winter landscapes between Tromsø and Harstad. Surrounded by snow-covered mountains, deep fjords and the silence of Northern Norway, we experience this remote region during one of the most extraordinary periods of the year.

February is an excellent time to experience the Northern Lights. The long, dark evenings provide ideal conditions, and when the sky is clear, the aurora can appear above the fjords and mountains. From the deck of Saeftinghe, far from the lights of the larger towns, you have every chance to witness this impressive natural spectacle.

During the week, our route will be shaped by the weather, sea conditions and the opportunities we encounter along the way. We sail through the fjords, explore sheltered anchorages and experience life aboard in the heart of the Arctic winter. Every day brings a new landscape, while each evening offers another opportunity to look for the Northern Lights.

An intimate winter journey for those who want to discover Northern Norway from a completely different perspective: sailing through a snow-covered landscape by day and searching the Arctic sky for the aurora at night.

Embarkation

T/S Saeftinghe will be ready for you in Tromsø, Norway. Embarkation is scheduled on Saturday 13 February 2027 from 17:00 onwards.

This one-week journey offers an Out Of The Ordinary way to experience the Arctic winter. Life aboard, the constantly changing weather and the impressive surroundings make this a journey where nature determines the rhythm.

Our Program

This winter experience takes us through the fjords and coastal landscapes around Lyngen, Senja and the Vesteralen. Our exact route is not fixed in advance but will be adapted to the weather, allowing us to make the most of every day.

We sail between snow-covered mountains, search for sheltered anchorages and spend our evenings aboard in quiet bays or small coastal harbours. Once darkness falls, we keep watch for the Northern Lights. February normally offers excellent opportunities to see the aurora, especially from remote locations with little artificial light and an unobstructed view of the sky.

While the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and can never be guaranteed, the season, long nights and location give us very favourable conditions. Seeing the aurora from the deck, surrounded by dark fjords and white mountains, can become one of the defining moments of the journey.

This is not a voyage built around a strict itinerary. It is an opportunity to live with the rhythm of the ship, explore Northern Norway in its purest winter setting and experience the Arctic light in all its forms, from the soft winter daylight to the Northern Lights dancing across the night sky.

The voyage ends in Harstad, Norway, on Saturday morning 27 February 2027 after breakfast.

• Welcome on board
• Accommodation on board based on 2 persons per room. A room consists of 2 single beds (bunk beds) with shared washroom.
• Breakfast, Light lunch, Dinner
