 lements\, offering a varied introduction to the nature and history of Sval
 bard. During the week\, we may visit the Russian mining settlement of Bare
 ntsburg and the abandoned settlement of Pyramiden. Further north\, we sear
 ch for glaciers\, walrus colonies and the many bird species that return to
  Svalbard during the short Arctic summer. A professional expedition guide 
 from Backyard Svalbard accompanies us throughout the journey. The guide sh
 ares their knowledge of the wildlife\, birds\, ecology and history of the 
 archipelago and allows us to make safe landings and guided hikes whenever 
 conditions permit. An intimate Arctic expedition for those who want to dis
