  region combines vast fjords\, glaciers\, Arctic wildlife and remote settl
 ements\, offering a varied introduction to the nature and history of Svalb
 ard. During the week\, we may visit the Russian mining settlement of Baren
 tsburg and the abandoned settlement of Pyramiden. Further north\, we searc
 h for glaciers\, walrus colonies and the many bird species that return to 
 Svalbard during the short Arctic summer. A professional expedition guide f
 rom Backyard Svalbard accompanies us throughout the journey. The guide sha
 res their knowledge of the wildlife\, birds\, ecology and history of the a
 rchipelago and allows us to make safe landings and guided hikes whenever c
 onditions permit. An intimate Arctic expedition for those who want to disc
 over Svalbard from the sea and experience its wildlife\, landscapes and re
